A Note From The Honouree

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman Foundation (SUF). As a father, economist and public servant who has dedicated his life to Nigeria's development, I am deeply honoured that my children have chosen to establish this foundation in my name. Their initiative, which began in 2013, fills me with immense pride and reinforces my belief in the power of the next generation to drive positive change.

SUF was born from a singular vision: to improve the outcomes of children in Africa, enabling them to maximize their potential. We believe that by nurturing a critical mass of empowered children, we can cultivate the future leaders who will transform our continent. Our approach focuses on three key pillars: education, health, and leadership development.

In education, we're making tangible differences across all levels. From refurbishing primary schools and supporting teachers in Northern Nigeria to providing university bursaries and grants for medical students, we're committed to creating comprehensive educational opportunities.

Healthcare forms another crucial aspect of our mission. I am particularly proud of Gidauniyar Alheri Clinic which we are running in partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières(MSF). In just over a decade, we've touched over 200,000 lives with over 200 childbirths happening every month at the clinic

I'm particularly excited about our signature project: the establishment of an AI/Technology Development Center. This initiative embodies my belief that embracing cutting-edge technology is crucial for Africa's future. The centre will offer skills acquisition programs, foster industry collaborations, and host innovation challenges, all aimed at empowering our youth with the tools they need to compete globally.
